Sparky and Daisy

Sparky and Daisy arrived at The Simon Foundation in April 2010 when their owner went into the hospital.  At the time we believed he was going to get better, so the plan was that we would hold onto the dogs until he could return home.  Two months later we learned he will never be well enough to care for Sparky and Daisy again, so he formally surrendered the dogs to our organization so we could place them up for adoption.

Daisy is 11 years old and Sparky is 9. They are incredibly friendly and affectionate (although Sparky likes to pick and choose which other dogs he gets along with).  They seem to be happy as long as they're together and have adapted well to the shelter environment, although Daisy is definitely starting to crave more affection from our staff.

The dogs have been together for 9 years, so we are committed to placing them together. They love each other, and it would be devastating to split them up at this point in their lives.  They love to curl up together on their bed (they especially love snuggling up in a comforter that we put on top of their Kuranda bed).

During the first two months they were with us, many people asked about them when they saw them.  But back then they weren't available for adoption.  Now they are, and we want to make sure they get a good home together.  Forever.

Daisy is the cuddle-bug of the two, although Sparky is also very friendly.  They love to run and play and act silly, but they are older and more mature so they also know how to relax.  They walk well on a leash, but would thrive in a home with a fenced yard were they could run around and play.

Beagles typically live for fifteen years or longer, so both Sparky and Daisy have many years ahead of them.  Sparky has a slightly elevated thyroid level and requires soloxine (an inexpensive thyroid medication) twice a day.  He takes it with no complaints and aside from that one condition, both dogs are in good health.
